City of Ottawa Historic Preservation Commission met March 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Present: Mollie Perrot, Chris Hasty, Lorraine McCallister, Farley Andrews, David Rabideau, Earl Lecki, Mayor, Tami Huftel

Absent: George Cary, Paul Havelka

Minutes. Moved by Chris Hasty that the minutes for OHPC meetings held on February 6, 2018 be approved. Second by Lorraine McCallister.

215 E. Prospect Avenue. Mark & Amy Pentecost. Tami reported Mark Pentecost submitted photographs of the home. The commission previous approved the applicate subject to submission of photos. Previously the commission noted the application meet criteria #’s 1,4,5,6,9. Moved by Mollie

Perrot the OHPC recommend to the City Council that 215 E. Prospect Avenue be approved as a Local Landmark. Motion seconded by Farley Andrews. All ayes, motioned carried.

Southside Survey. Mollie reported that she is attaching pictures to the survey sheets.

Colonnade. Earl updated commission: all volunteer project, no set schedule but the project will be completed by December 2018. All materials and work performed by the union.

Sundial. Commission discussed the restoration. Earl will donate sundial.

New Business.

Funds for 2018 Projects.

1.) New monument to replace the horse water trough now located at Hank’s Farm.

2.) Shabbona School interpretive signage

3.) W.B. Boyce signage

4.) Telegraph signage

5.) Float in the parade celebrating the bicentennial

Extending Bike Path on Canal. Mayor presented sanborn maps and a book of the feeder canal, specifically the locks at Superior Street.
