Long invites St. George Orthodox Church priest to give invocation

Rep. Jerry Long (R-Streator) had some special guests with him at the May 21 House floor debate.

“It is a great privilege to have Father Andrew (Kishler) say the invocation this morning,” Long said of St. George Orthodox Church priest, who has served at the parish since 2015.

Long said that after saying the prayer, Father Andrew forgot to mention the Saint Valley church anniversary.

“We are celebrating 100 years since the birth of St. George,” Long.

After pointing out Kishler’s wife, Patricia, and children, Long announced church congregant and World War II veteran William Miller and his wife, Mary.

“Can we give them a nice Springfield round of applause?” Long said as the House floor did just that.
