Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) was honored to have Megan Bugg at her side.
Introducing the student who has dealt with childhood cancer since 2014, Rezin said Bugg is presently receiving research treatment from Lurie Children’s Hospital by Dr. David Waterhouse.
“In the meantime, Megan has been raising funds for childhood cancer and raising the awareness for funding at the federal level,” Rezin said.

Locally she has raised almost $80,000, according to the senator, who said the money will be donated to Waterhouse for his research lab.
“I am also honored to introduce Megan’s dad, who is up in the gallery, Dr. (Kent) Bugg, the superintendent of Cole City who we love,” Rezin said, adding Megan’s grandparents Jim and Sandra were also in the gallery.
Rezin concluded asking for a warm Springfield welcome, which was given to her with a loud applause by the Senate floor.
