Istock 000021427255 medium

Osf St. Elizabeth Hospital issued the following announcement on May 31.

Ottawa Township High School graduate Hannah Schilling is the 2018 recipient of the Don Morehead Community Service Scholarship.

The $1,000 award will assist Ms. Schilling’s higher education goals. She will attend the University of Saint Francis in the fall with plans to then work in a children’s hospital or cancer treatment center.

Selection for the award is based on the student’s completion of the scholarship application, as well as overall citizenship, community involvement and other criteria.

The Don Morehead Community Service Scholarship was established by OSF Medical Group-Ottawa in honor of the retired physician and his over 50 years of dedicated volunteerism and service to the community. That included many years on the Ottawa School Board, where Dr. Morehead was committed to preparing young adults to become productive citizens and future leaders.

The scholarship is open to Ottawa Township High School students who commit to continuing their education following graduation.
