Gardner Fire Protection District responded to 34 calls in 2017 - 26.1 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Gardner included 24 fires - five structure fires, two vehicle fires and 17 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

The department also received nine false calls.

The Gardner Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $499,268 in 2017.
