Leland CFPD responds to 29 fires in 2017

Leland Central Fire Protection District responded to 30 calls in 2017 - 36.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Leland included 29 fires - 18 structure fires, three vehicle fires and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $561,000 in fire loss - or about $19,345 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The calls resulted in two civilian non-fire injuries.

The Leland Central Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $113,624 in 2017.
