Village of Wyanet Board of Trustees met May 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Village President Bruce Hand called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Following the pledge of allegiance roll call was answered by Hand, Bickett, Etheridge, Johnson, Peterson and Spears. Law was absent.

Residents, Ray & Jill Carrington and Anita Reed were present to review sewer issues on West Main St. The discussion involved possible ways to resolve the problems. Village Engineer Jack Kusek was also, present.

Bob Catton was present to ask permission to close a portion of E. Third Street for a tractor show during the festival. It was suggested that he use the right-of-way at the intersection of Main and Walnut Streets.

Trustee Law arrived at 7:25 p.m.

Chief Marquez presented the monthly activity report. The department has been borrowing a radio from Adam Raabe. A brief discussion was held concerning the old squad car.

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Bickett to purchase a new digital radio with an adapter for $544.15. 

Spears, Bickett, Johnson and Peterson voted in favor of the motion. Etheridge and Law voted no. Motion passed 4-2

Superintendent Teske reported on village maintenance for the month. In addition to regular maintenance items and mowing, roots have been ground out of the sewer line on North Street and a portion of the storm sewer line in Greencastle. The main cylinder in the garbage truck required repair.

Engineer Kusek had paperwork ready for the MFT program for leveling binder on S. Walnut St. in the amount of $15,000.00. He reported that this will not have to be bid out since the minimum for bidding is now $30,000.00.

A motion was made by Peterson and seconded by Etheridge to approve Resolution #R-3-18-5-8 for Maintenance of Streets and Highways in the amount of $15,000.00. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Peterson to approve the consent addenda as presented. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

Committee Reports:

Building & Equipment – bidders for the salt shed concrete will be contacted.

A brief discussion was held concerning recycling since Princeton has moved their center and added restrictions for people outside city limits. Trustee Law may have contact information about a program in Sheffield.

Old Business:

Both Todd Poruba and Dave Grebner have been contacted by the village attorney concerning their properties on Main Street. President Hand will meet with Bob Russell to discuss fining the owners.

New Business:

A Motion was made by Spears and seconded by Peterson to approve Resolution #R-2-18-5-8 to closed Highway 6 & 34 for the festival parade to be held on July 14th. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

A Motion was made by Spears and seconded by Johnson to approve a liquor license for the Community Club beer garden during the festival at no cost. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

A Motion was made by Peterson and seconded by Bickett to donate $500.00 to the Community Club for festival expenses. Peterson, Bickett, Spears and Johnson voted in favor of the motion. Etheridge and Law voted no. Motion passed 4-2

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Peterson to adjourn the meeting at 8:28 p.m. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
