How much has Tonica CCSD 79 overspent over the past 10 years?

Tonica Community Consolidated School District 79 accumulated $405,029 in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Tonica CCSD 79 reported 9.7 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 12.9 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 1,495.3 percent from 2008 to 2017.
