Marseilles Elementary School District 150 students suspended 190 times in a single school year

Marseilles Elementary School District 150 reported 190 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 190 students during the year. That equates to 32.8 percent of the 579 students enrolled.

Of the 123 in-school suspensions, 98 were given to boys and 25 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 123 incidents. For 121 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 67 out-of-school suspensions, 47 were given to boys and 20 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 64 incidents. There were two incidents of alcohol. For 34 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
