Morris Community High School District 101 students suspended 19 times in a single school year

Morris Community High School District 101 reported 19 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The district transferred one students to another program instead of suspending or expelling them.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 19 students during the year. That equates to 2.2 percent of the 852 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes one incidents. For one incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 18 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes six incidents. There were six incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For nine incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
