Osf St. Elizabeth Hospital issued the following announcement on Sept. 5.
Thanks to generous contributions, the OSF St. Elizabeth Auxiliary was able to purchase a new bladder scanner for OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.
A bladder scanner is used to assess a patient’s post void residual volume, or how much urine remains in the bladder after emptying. The new bladder scanner allows Mission Partners to accurately measure bladder volume to determine if a foley catheter is necessary. In addition, this advanced technology will allow our Mission Partners to continue providing high-quality care and reduce the potential for unnecessary catheterizations.
The OSF St. Elizabeth Auxiliary serves to meet the mission of fundraising and generating donations towards purchasing state-of-the-art medical equipment. The Auxiliary raises money through various fundraisers and business ventures such as the Gift Shoppe, located within the hospital.
