City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Nov. 15.
Commissioner James Less has announced Canal Road will be closed to all through traffic on the weekend of Saturday November 17th and 18th, 2018, beginning each day at 6:30 am between Chapel Street on the West, and Chicago Road on the East. Canal Road will reopen at 3:30 pm each day.
The City of Ottawa will be clearing underbrush and trees with a Contractor along Canal Road, and access to residents within this closure and access to the Shoreline Boat Club will be permissible.
The motoring public should seek alternate routes during this period. Ottawa Police will monitor traffic and violators will be ticketed during tree clearing operations.
The motoring public is cautioned to use extreme caution if you reside within this work area or as you gain access to the Shoreline Boat Club during these closures.
