City of Oglesby issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.
Oglesby BB Gun Club
Beginner nights – Tuesday, November 20 & Wednesday, November 28, 2018 – 5:00 PM
Official First Night – Wednesday, December 5, 2018 – 4:30 PM
Downstairs in City Hall – 110 E Walnut Street
The club is open to Oglesby boys and girls in 3rd – 8th grade and promotes BB gun safety. It meets each Wednesday between the hours of 4:30 – 6:30 PM from November thru February downstairs in the City Hall. There is a $15 fee for joining and all guns, BBs and targets are furnished. All participants will be given a t-shirt at the end of the program. The club is sponsored by the Oglesby Police and Parks and Recreation Departments, along with local businesses and organizations; and is for Oglesby Schools’ and/or Oglesby children only.
NEW “RISING STARS JR.” BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Begins Monday, January 14, 2019 @ Lincoln School Gym
This program is designed for first graders and will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM every other Monday night is January and February at Lincoln School. The program will focus on basketball basic skills, structure and sportsmanship. Fee is $20.00. Family Night is February 25, 2019.

“RISING STARS” BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Begins Tuesday, January 8, 2019 @ Lincoln School Gym
This program is designed for second and third graders and will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM or 7:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday or Tuesday nights in January and February at Lincoln School. They focus primarily on basketball fundamentals: dribbling, passing, shooting and sportsmanship. Fee is $30.00. Family Nights are February 25 & 26, 2019.

YOUTH “REC” BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Girls League practice – Thursday, January 10, 2019 – 6:00 – 7:00 PM @ Lincoln School Gym
Boys League practice -Thursday, January 10, 2019 – 7:00 – 8:00 PM @ Lincoln School Gym
This program is offered for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders that attend school in Oglesby. Boys and Girls teams are chosen from the children that signup, with games being played on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:10 – 6:50 PM, 7:00 – 7:40 PM, 7:50 – 8:30 PM during the months of January and February at Lincoln School. Each participant will be given a team t-shirt. Fee is $30.00. Youth REC Details

MEN’S “REC” BASKETBALL LEAGUE

This program is offered for men ages 18 and older from Oglesby or have children attending Oglesby schools. The league will begin Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM @ Lincoln School Gym. It will continue on every Wednesday night (except December 26 & January 2) ending on February 27th. League fees are yet to be determined.
