CITY OF OTTAWA: Christmas Tree Disposal After Holidays

Xmascollect

City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Jan. 2.

Commissioner James Less has announced the City of Ottawa is again offering a program for the disposal of live Christmas trees after the holidays.

Local residents wishing to participate may bring their trees during daylight hours to the Riordan Pool parking lot designated drop-off area, located on Utica drive one block north of the 600 block of East Norris Drive. This program will allow for trees to be dropped off beginning Saturday, January 5, 2019 through and including Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Staff will also be chipping on an as needed basis and at varying times during normal business hours. The city will provide bags for those wanting to take chips for mulch, and help in removing trees from vehicles will be available on a limited basis during chipping operations.

Please note: All Christmas lights and decorations must be removed from the tree prior to disposal at this location.

There is no charge for this service.
