Report: Putnam County spent $12,235 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Putnam County Community Unit School District 535 is up 23.9 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Putnam County school district spent $9,872 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $12,235 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 926 to 872.

Putnam County's spending in 2017-18 was 8.3 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
