Report: Tonica spent $11,584 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Tonica Community Consolidated School District 79 is up 25.4 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the La Salle County school district spent $9,239 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $11,584 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 222 to 169.

Tonica's spending in 2017-18 was 13.1 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
