Report: Serena spent $14,025 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Serena Community Unit School District 2 is up 16.5 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the La Salle County school district spent $12,041 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $14,025 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 730 to 656.

Serena's spending in 2017-18 was 5.2 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
