CITY OF OTTAWA: Downtown LaSalle Street Sewer Repair

Sewerepair

City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on April 15.

Contractors for the City of Ottawa have advised that a section of a City sewer line located in the LaSalle Street right-of-way near the intersection with West Madison Street is collapsing and is in need of immediate repair.

Work at the site is expected to begin Tuesday morning, April 16, 2019 at approximately 8:00 a.m. Due to the extent of the excavating in LaSalle Street that will be required, the three lanes of southbound LaSalle Street traffic will be reduced to the east/one lane for about two blocks. Only westbound traffic will be allowed in the 200 block of West Madison Street. On-street parking on the south side of the 200 block of West Madison Street and the west side of a portion of the 600 block of LaSalle Street will be prohibited between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Additional parking restrictions will be implemented if necessary after the project begins. Weather permitting and project progress, contractors expect the work to be completed by the end of the work day Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

Those needing to drive in the area of that intersection in the next two days are asked to use extreme caution, watch for equipment and workers and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Using alternate side streets and other southbound routes are recommended while the repair work is underway.
