Former state university employee Aleksy paid in $11K to pension fund, could collect $204K in retirement

Former state university employee Donald Aleksy, who retired in June 2017, saved $11,261 toward a pension over 14 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Aleksy would collect as much as $204,224, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Illinois Valley Times.

The projection assumes Aleksy received $4,292 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Aleksy will have already received $13,267 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
