2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Grundy County?

There were 41 offenders released on parole during 2018 that live in Grundy County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Illinois Valley Times.

The data shows that 33 men and eight women were released in Grundy County. Of the parolees, one was a veteran, and the median age was 35. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2018, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Andrew J. Viles. He was convicted of a property crime in 2013 when he was 28 years old. He is now 34.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
