Village of Wyanet Village Board of Trustees met March 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Village President Bruce Hand called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Following the pledge of allegiance roll call was answered by Hand, Bickett, Etheridge, Law, Peterson and Thompson. Johnson was absent.

Village resident, Kim Rich, was present to dispute an extra garbage fee on her bill. Following discussion the board suggested splitting the fee with her.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Law to split the extra charge of $20.00 with her. Bickett, Law and Thompson voted in favor of the motion. Etheridge and Peterson voted no. Motion passed 3-2. Johnson was absent.

Mark Stocking owner of Sock’s Place requested the renewal of his liquor license for 2019-20.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Thompson to renew the liquor license for Sock’s Place.

Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson was absent.

Suzan Eckberg was present to request the liquor license for Ecky’s be renewed.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Etheridge to renew the liquor license for Ecky’s. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson was absent.

Mrs. Eckberg asked about responsibility for snow removal on Main St. President Hand informed her that it was the responsibility of the business owners to remove snow. The village may assist but it is not required.

She also, asked about the building next to hers. The board suggested that she contact the Bureau County zoning office.

Chief Marquez presented the monthly activity report. He does have the title for the Hummer. The board will discuss disposing of it at the next meeting.

Superintendent Teske gave the maintenance report. They repaired a leak on Locust St., have been prepping the water plant floor for painting, 2 hydrants will be replaced in the Spring instead of Summer and he has a quote for removing two trees and trimming one at the cemetery.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Etheridge to approve the consent as presented. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson was absent.

Committee Reports:

Law & Order-Ordinances-Public Safety – Trustee Etheridge met with the Library and has instructed the police department to monitor the vestibule at the library. Discussion was held concerning parking issues on Main Street.

A motion was made by Etheridge and seconded by Law to create a parking ordinance within the village limits with a $250.00 fine plus court costs. Etheridge and Law voted in favor of the motion. Bickett, Peterson and Thompson voted no. Motion failed 3-2. Johnson was absent.

Cemetery-Reforestation-Historical-Parks – Trustee Law recommended having AAA Tree Service from Granville remove the trees at the cemetery.

A motion was made by Law and seconded by Bickett to have AAA Tree Service remove two trees and trim one for a cost of $4,400.00. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson was absent.

Water-Sewer-Sanitation – Trustee Bickett will look into getting a quote for cleaning the outside of the water tower.

Streets & Sidewalks – Trustee Peterson will get a list of problem areas in the streets. The village will develop snow removal and grass removal ordinances.

Old Business:

Thelma Beall, Village Treasurer, has reinvested the Henry Thomas Museum endowment.

Trustee Law will contact LaPorte Mowing Service to see if their prices are the same as last year. He will remind them that they are not to mow on Saturdays or Sundays.

The board would like to continue researching a quiet zone for train horns.

New Business:

A motion was made by Peterson and seconded by Law to renew liquor licenses for the VFW and Casey’s and to approve a liquor license for the Community Club Foundation Benefit on March 16, 2019. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson was absent.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Etheridge to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
