City of Princeton issued the following announcement on June 18.
Correct the hook-up by September 1, 2019
and receive a $100 credit on your utility bill.
HERE’S HOW TO RECEIVE THE CREDIT:
Contact City Hall at 815-875-2631 to schedule an inspection so we can
confirm that you have an illegal sump pump hook-up. (Not sure? Contact us anyway.)
If we confirm that you have an illegal hook-up, you will need to contact a licensed plumber
to correct the problem by September 1, 2019.
Once fixed, contact City Hall before September 1, 2019 to schedule a final inspection
so you can receive a $100 credit on your utility bill.
After September 1, 2019, there will be a fine for illegal hook-ups.
PROPER SUMP PUMP INSTALLATION
Sump pumps should
discharge only into your
yard or storm sewer – not
to the sanitary sewer.
Remember: It is illegal to
connect your sump pump
into a sanitary pipe!
And it’s illegal to discharge
sump pump water onto your
neighbor’s yard.
