Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees in La Salle County convicted of drug crimes

There were eight offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in La Salle County during the first quarter of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Illinois Valley Times.

The data shows that six men and two women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 34. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old woman sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 43-year-old man sentenced in 2014.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Thomas J. Higgins. He was convicted in 2013 when he was 35 years old. He is now 40.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the first quarter of 2019 in each Illinois county.
