CITY OF PRINCETON: Utility Phone Scam

Scamcall

City of Princeton issued the following announcement on July 30.

There are reports that utility customers are receiving telephone calls, claiming to be from the City of Princeton, that they are eligible for utility rebates through Commonwealth Edison, or Com Ed. This is a scam. The City of Princeton has no relationship with Com Ed and the telephone caller has no authority to represent such a relationship. If City of Princeton utility customers were eligible for a utility rebate, then the city would notify its customers by mail in the monthly utility bill. If you receive a phone call claiming that you are eligible for a utility rebate, please hang up. It is a scam. Thank you.
