City of Peru Public Services Committee met June 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Alderman Ferrari, Lukosus and Ballard present. Alderman Waldorf absent; Mayor Harl present.

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: City Clerk Dave Bartley, Alderman Sapienza, Alderman Payton, ASM Doug Bernabei, PSM Jeff King, City Engineer Eric Carls, Finance Officer Justin Miller, Economic Development Director Bob Vickery, Chris Perra of T.E.S.T. and Mike Perry of Chamlin and Associates, Jason Judd of Grandma Rosie s Sweet Treats and Attorney Jon Brandt

MINUTES

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting minutes of May 20, 2019. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.

PRESENTATION

Mr. Jason Judd of Grandma s Rosie s Sweet Treats addressed the committee and asked for permission to place a trailer at the splash pad for the 2019 summer season. Mr. Judd offered a 15% gross sale profit to the city and offered a promotional event to benefit of a future pool project. Mr. Judd also noted his staff would clean up all garbage. Alderman Lukosus asked about exclusivity or leasing. Clerk Bartley noted the solicitors permit process and 30-day cycle.

Attorney Jon Brandt spoke on a projected timeline for the former CVS property.

AIRPORT

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on plans/lease agreement paperwork to be forwarded to Illinois Division of Aeronautics for Midwest Air Charter Inc.

CEMETERY

Finance Officer Justin Miller reported on an additional receipt of $100,000 from the Anita Copeland trust with an additional $10,000-$20,000 in the next several months. Committee agreed to discuss plans for future expansion.

CODE ENFORCEMENT

ENGINEERING

City Engineer Eric Carls provided an update on the following projects:

Peoria Street Water Main and Area 1 Phase 4

o Projects impacting city wide water pressure

General Fund Street Program o Bid opening July 8th

Peoria Street Expansion

o Seeking right-of-way acquisitions

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on the award of an additional railway grant for over $6 million

BUILDINGS & GROUNDS

OLD BUSINESS

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on a resignation of newly hired administrative support assistant effective June 28th.

City Engineer Eric Carls addressed the surface hub conversation to be talked about at the next Finance and Safety Services meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to approve quote from EHC Industries for asbestos removal at 1830 4th Street in the amount of $3,063.00. Alderman Ballad seconded the motion. City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Lukosus, Ballard and Mayor Harl voting aye; Alderman Waldorf absent; motion carried.

Mayor Harl asked for consideration of further painting of 1830 4th Street and seeking bids to demo the first floor.

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King recommended trading in the two old asphalt machines for a new one in the amount of $29,728 (state bid figure es).

Chairman Ferrari made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Ballard seconded the motion; motion carried.
