City of Oglesby City Council met June 24.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE OGLESBY CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD AT OGLESBY CITY HALL. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 6:30 P.M.
PRESENT: COMMISSIONERS ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, MAYOR RIVARA, ASSISTANT CLERK EICHELKRAUT.
Mayor Rivara stated that this meeting would be for discussion and assessment of Summer Fun Fest 2019. Rivara began by thanking all of the volunteers and employees for all of their hard work making Summer Fun Fest a success. Rivara stated that this meeting is being held to discuss this year’s Summer Fun Fest and to begin planning Summer Fun Fest 2020. Rivara also stated that he would like to discuss events in 2020.
Rivara stated that the carnival would be returning for the next four years on Father’s Day weekend. Discussion continued and included 50/50 sales, seeking bands and continuing beer sales at the same price as 2019. There was more conversation regarding sponsorship and letters seeking sponsors. The council thought that it would be best to send letters at the beginning of the year as opposed to the month prior to the festival.
Rivara stated that he would attend the next CABO meeting to see if they would be interested in assisting with portions of Summer Fun Fest 2020.
The council also suggested possibly having a five person event committee that would manage the events.
A MOTION TO ADJOURN WAS MADE AT 8:26 P.M. BY LIJEWSKI, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA.
