City of Streator City Council met Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Call to Order Mayor Lansford called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.

Roll Call Members present: Tara Bedei, Ed Brozak, Brian Crouch, Joe Scarbeary and Mayor Lansford

Public Comment None.

Discussion Items

1. Waste Management Proposed Rate Increase.

Dave Schaab was unable to attend the meeting

David Plyman addressed the memo that he issued and suggested the council look into the increase further before a decision is made. He would like for the council to be able to hear from Schaab himself.

2. Proposed 5-Year Road Plan.

Jeremy Palm discussed the 5 Year road plan and stated that the reason for some of the changes that have been made are due to deteriorating road conditions because of the past winter.

Kathy Scudder - resident at 705 Iowa Ave., presented her concerns for Iowa Ave., stating that trucks are going down and the road and shaking her house more than normal; and also, the problem of speeding vehicles in general. She would like more police presence in the area, and for the road to get fixed sooner than later.

Palm suggested that Court Street be added into the plan and it was agreed by council that it be added in as well. He stated that Court St. will be put on the plan for 2022 and the rest of the plan will be adjusted accordingly.

3. Proposed ordinance amending the City of Streator’s fence code to allow the installation of up to 6’-4’ privacy fences on corner lots in limited situations.

Palm discussed that currently corner lot fences must be 4’, looking to revise the ordinance so that it allows up to 6’ privacy fence in limited situations. The ordinance will be placed on the November council meeting.

Other Items to Report

- First strategic planning meeting will be held on October 29th at 5:30 p.m.

- A cannabis special meeting will take place on October 31st at 1:30 p.m.

- Dave will be meeting with Klein Thorp in Chicago on Friday the 18th to start discussion Fire and Police contracts.

Adjournment

Mayor Lansford requested a motion and second to adjourn the meeting.

Motion: Scarbeary made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Bedei

Roll: Bedei, Brozak, Crouch, Searbeary and Mayor Lansford.

Time Adjourned: 2:20 p.m.
