CITY OF OTTAWA: Leaf Drop-Off Dumpsters to Return - Temporarily

Leavesclean

City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Dec. 6.

City of Ottawa Commissioner Marla Rodriguez has announced the leaf/yard waste drop-off dumpsters will be returned to their location in the 400 block of West Jackson Street on Thursday, December 5, 2019 but only for a limited time.

Although the dumpsters are usually removed for the season by the first of December, the unusual weather the Ottawa area experienced this fall left many residents not able to take advantage of the drop site or leaf-vac program. Dumpster contractors have agreed to return 4 or 5 units, if they are available, to the site until they are given an end-of-the-year closing date from the disposal site they use. Commissioner Rodriguez is hopeful the City’s site can remain available until mid-December but encourages those wishing to take advantage of the drop-off not to wait as the dumpsters may only be there for less than a week. If possible, the City will post a last day date once they are advised by the contractors.

Residents are reminded these dumpsters are to be used for leaf and lawn waste only. No plastic bags or garbage is allowed. This area is under camera surveillance. Anyone caught/seen dumping anything not permitted at the site will be ticketed.
