City of Peru City Council met Jan. 6.

A regular meeting of the Peru City Council was called to order by Mayor Scott J. Harl in the Peru City Council Chambers beginning at 7:00 p.m.
City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Waldorf, Lukosus, Radtke, Sapienza, Ballard and Buffo present; Alderman Payton absent; Mayor Harl present.
All joined in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

Mayor Harl presented the minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 6, 2019. Alderman Waldorf made a motion that the minutes be received and placed on file. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.

Mayor Harl presented the Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service Inc. Activity Summary for November 2019. Alderman Buffo made a motion the report be received and placed on file. Alderman Payton seconded the motion; motion carried.
FINANCE AND SAFETY COMMITTEE
Alderman Buffo presented the following disbursements for payment on January 8, 2020:

Alderman Buffo made a motion that the report be received, placed on file and the bills be paid in the usual manner. Alderman Radtke seconded the motion. City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Waldorf, Lukosus, Radtke, Sapienza, Payton, Ballard and Buffo voting aye; motion carried.
Alderman Payton made a motion to approve expenses for Spring and Fall 2020 ICSC Conventions (Spring convention in Las Vegas; Fall convention in Chicago). Alderman Radtke seconded the motion. City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Waldorf, Lukosus, Radtke, Sapienza, Payton, Ballard and Buffo voting aye; motion carried.
PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE
REPORT OF CITY ATTORNEY/ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS PROCLAMATIONS
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Alderman Waldorf made a motion to hire the selected candidate for the Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events position. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Alderman Buffo stated he voted against the seeking of candidates for this position but will support the hire and hopes for the best. Mayor Harl stated 35 applicants were received; 6 interviews, 4 second interviews which included Human Resource Manager Kim Reese, PSM Jeff King, Recreation Board President Steve Michelini and Recreation Director Seth Brannan. City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Waldorf, Lukosus, Radtke, Sapienza, Payton, Ballard and Buffo voting aye; motion carried.
Alderman Radtke made a motion to hire the selected candidate for the Utility Billing position. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion. City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Waldorf, Lukosus, Radtke, Sapienza, Payton, Ballard and Buffo voting aye; motion carried.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS
Clerk Bartley presented a communication from Rita Studzinski of the River Valley Chapter of The Compassionate Friends requesting permission to hold the annual Memory Walk at Baker Lake on Sunday, September 27th. Alderman Ferrari made a motion the communication be received, placed on file and permission granted. Alderman Buffo seconded the motion; motion carried.
Clerk Bartley presented a petition from Hume MVAH Holding LLC requesting a special use for property located along North Peoria Street. Alderman Ferrari made a motion the petition be received, placed on file and referred to the Planning/Zoning Board for review and recommendation. Alderman Payton seconded the motion; motion carried.

Alderman Ferrari made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Alderman Buffo seconded the motion and motion carried. Meeting adjourned 7: p.m.
