Meeting41

City of La Salle Finance Committee met Feb. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Ptak called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.

Present: Alderman Ptak, Alderman Demes, Alderman Lavieri, Alderman Jeppson, Alderman Herndon

Absent:

Others present: Finance Director John Duncan

A quorum was present.

In regard to a request from Stage 212 for a 2020 Sponsorship, the committee voted unanimously to recommend to the council to make a $250 donation. Chairman Ptak stated that they are a great organization. Aldermen Demes agreed and thought we should give them something. Alderman Herndon stated that he agreed. Alderman Bacidore stated that he is not a member of the Finance Committee but is against the donation. He stated that we are the keeper of the people’s money and if you start giving to one, then you have to give to everyone. Alderman Lavieri responded that they are a non-for- profit and an asset to the City. He stated that the people that come to the plays are not all from La Salle. Chairman Ptak stated that although that may be true, the people coming may eat in our restaurants or visit our stores.

There were no questions on the bills, however, Alderman Ptak questioned the charge from Connecting Point for the Barracuda back-up for all servers at City Hall. He inquired if we had ever sought quotes from other sources, as he felt the current charge is quite high. Finance Director Duncan stated that we have not, but that he would look into what other municipalities are doing.

Chairman Ptak asked Chief Andy Bacidore why ambulance revenues were down. Chief Bacidore stated that the decrease was due to less 9-1-1 calls during that time period.

Finance Director Duncan stated that he will present information on the audit soon in preparation of planning for budgets.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
