Putnam County Sheriff Doyle urges unity to fight COVID-19.
Putnam County Sheriff Kevin L. Doyle is calling on all residents to come together as the fight against COVID-19 continues.
He released a statement on March 24 concerning the widespread effects and wrote, according to Putnam County Record, on the importance of essential workers protecting and serving the community.
“As we face an unprecedented and growing public safety threat, know that the dedicated first responders in law enforcement will answer the call. Nothing is more important to sheriffs, deputies, chiefs and officers than the health and safety of our neighbors we serve,” Doyle said, as reported by the Putnam County Record.
He also said this is the opportunity for Illinoisans to unite, and the sheriff’s department is leading the charge.
“This is a time for all of Illinois to come together. The members of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association are in contact with one another to implement best practices, share resources and support our communities. Together, sheriffs urge calm, compassion and care,” said Doyle and reported by the Putnam County Record.
He also made it clear that law enforcement will continue doing its job to keep neighborhoods and communities safe, and that rulings on jail times for any crimes committed during this period will be made in conjunction with the judicial branch.
