Illinois Valley Community Hospital issued the following announcement on April 11.
Sheri Pierce is a registered nurse in the Diabetes Education Department. Although officially a new IVCH employee, Sheri has been seen training under Deb Redd to become a certified diabetes educator for the past 2 1/2 years. But it is Sheri’s experience as an infection control nurse at another hospital that has been the most help to us recently! Sheri has stepped up to help our infection control coordinator Janine Sobin by completing reports, sending out educational update emails on COVID-19 to the staff, and fielding questions. Sheri also took on the task of getting 2500 masks sent from emergency stores fitted with new elastic ear loops. This involved finding elastic banding and volunteers to sew on the new straps. This will greatly increase our supply of masks available to our staff. “We are so grateful to have Sheri Pierce working at IVCH. She is an asset to the hospital and a joy to work with!” said Janine Sobin.
