The Community Foundation of Grundy County continues to offer financial assistance to local nonprofits that are providing essential community engagement during the COVID-19 health crisis.
There's been an increased need for social services in the Will and Grundy county areas during the pandemic, according to WCSJ News.
The Community Foundation of Grundy County has given $25,320 in COVID-19 grants to nonprofits offering medical assistance, shelter, and food relief.
The Will Grundy Medical Clinic is one nonprofit that offers medical and dental care to people without insurance. It was given a $5,000 grant to continue its services.
Many workers lost their jobs due to COVID-19, and lost jobs meant lost wages and, for many, an increased need for food assistance. The Grundy Resource Organization provides fresh produce to seniors, the disabled, and those with low incomes. It was given a grant for $2,500.
Other nonprofit organizations receiving help are:
***Help for Hope and the Coal City Food Pantry received $2,500 grants to restock their food supplies.
***The MVK Food Pantry was given a $1,000 grant to help them restock food items and essentials for those in need.
***The Illinois Valley Industries received $1,000 for personal protection equipment for themselves and their clients
***Grundy Area PADS offers shelter to homeless adults and families when temperatures become too extreme for people to be outdoors and provides meals to those in their care. A $5,820 grant will help it continue operations.
***We Care of Grundy County offers various services including food assistance, clothing, rent and mortgage assistance, utility assistance, mental health services, and affordable housing assistance. It received $5,000.
