CITY OF OTTAWA: Public Hearing On Monday June 1

City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on May 22.

City of Ottawa will hold a public hearing on Monday June 1, 2020 at 5:30pm via conference call by calling (425) 436-6394 access code: 444221#, to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed Downstate Small Business Stabilization application funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

On or about June 3, 2020 City of Ottawa intends to apply for a second round of applications to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a grant from the State CDBG program. This program is funded by Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.

CDBG funds are to be used to provide the working capital amounts for the benefit of the following businesses and will address the urgent needs of the business due to the COVID-19 emergency: $19,000 for Alberto’s and $25,000 each for Anne’s Hideaway; Bears Den (Mobak, Inc.); Bells Clothing; Bowl Rite Lanes (Kim Frye); Casa Mia (Philip Hoffman); China Inn; Déjà vu; HiWay Restaurant; Illini Lounge; JJ’s Pub; Muffy’s Tap; Red Dog Grill (Heritage Harbor Hospitality); Roxy Theater (21st Century Cinemas Inc); and Shakers.

Information related to these applications will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Ottawa City Hall, 301 West Madison Street office by contacting the Shelly Munks, City Clerk between the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm at (815) 433-0161 ext. 117 or email: clerk@cityofottawa.org to set up an appointment. City Hall is closed to the public. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact Shelly Munks, City Clerk 301 W. Madison St., Ottawa, IL 815-433-0161 ext. 117. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Written comments should be submitted to Dave Noble, City of Ottawa 301 W. Madison Street Ottawa, IL 61350 or email dnoble@cityofottawa.org no later than 4:00pm on Monday, June 1, 2020 to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings.
