City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on June 20.
City of Ottawa Officials have determined that certain street and/or parking closures will be made on Saturday, July 4th to accommodate the fireworks display. Beginning Saturday July 4th at 7:00 p.m. until Sunday, July 5th at 1:00 a.m. the following restrictions will be in place:
Main Street – Complete closure from LaSalle Street to Columbus Street Madison Street – Complete closure from Clinton Street to LaSalle Street Madison Street – Complete closure from LaSalle Street to Columbus Street Court Street – Main Street to Madison Street
Lincoln Place – Closure of LaSalle Street access
Hitt Street – Parking Restricted from State Street west to Corporate Limits East Prospect Avenue – Parking Restricted from State Street to 1st Avenue
Ottawa High School – All parking lots and all school property closed to vehicles and pedestrians. No parking will be allowed
Ottawa First has informed the City that the fireworks display will not include the typical lower ground display since there will be no on-site viewing at Ottawa High School. The display will include larger shells with higher elevation that can be viewed from a much larger radius within the City. The City requests that all residents viewing the fireworks follow current CDC guidelines regarding social distancing.
