Analysis: Ottawa pays $5.62 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Ottawa Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.2 percent of the $1,268,022 the Ottawa Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.62 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Ottawa contributed $1,067,106 to the fund, which saw a $22,768 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $189,608, or 15 percent, in 2018. Another $11,308 came from other unspecified sources.
