Analysis: Mendota pays $4.99 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Mendota Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.3 percent of the $565,239 the Mendota Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.99 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Mendota contributed $470,910 to the fund, which saw a $37,003 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $94,328, or 16.7 percent, in 2018. Another $1 came from other unspecified sources.
