Alderman Herndon had questions regarding the $27,531.34 paid to the Internal Revenue Service for the Parks Department. Finance Director John Duncan explained the payment is due to payroll taxes that were not accounted for prior to city staff taking over the finances. Duncan said they will negotiate the late fees with the Internal Revenue Service with the hopes of reducing the late fees.
The Finance Committee unanimously were in favor of the Redevelopment Incentive Program grant for Quilting in the Valley for $12,500 for premises located at 838 First Street.
The Commission unanimously denied the request from the Parents of LP Class 2020 for a donation towards LP Prom to remain consistent with current donation practices.
Duncan said the appropriations ordinance will by on a City Council meeting in July. He said those with any further input should express it soon.
