Streator Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.
We are pleased to announce that we have concluded our #StreatorStrong Feed The Need campaign with incredible results! We raised just over $8,000 and are helping 40+ households. We were able to select 16 businesses that supply mainly food for the households benefiting from this initiative. Our committee felt this is what our beneficiaries truly need right now.
We will be distributing these gift cards from area businesses by early next week! This is truly a win-win for people in need and area business owners! We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
Shout out to Theresa Solon State Farm for coming to the Chamber with this incredible idea and assisting on our committee. Thank you to Rhonda Eilts who quickly placed and managed a GoFundMe page for the campaign. And huge thanks to Jack Dzuris and Sue Straughn for working with our area businesses to obtain mass quantities of gift cards!
