Princeton High School District #500 Board of Education met July 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Princeton High School Board of Education, District #500, met in Regular Session in the Learning Resource Center. Present: Gary Hanna, Colleen Sailer, Al Taylor, Terry Smallwood, and John Young. Kirk Haring, Superintendent, and Andrew Berlinski, Principal, were also in attendance.

Colleen Sailer, President, called the Regular Meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. She welcomed guests and the media. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance. There was no Public Comment.

Consent Agenda The Consent Agenda included Minutes of the June 24, 2020 Regular Monthly Meeting, Monthly Bills, Treasurer’s Reports, and Verbatim Records older than 18 months. Gary Hanna moved to approve the Consent Agenda items as presented, seconded by John Young. The motion carried on a roll call vote: Al Taylor-yes, Terry Smallwood-yes, John Young-yes, Gary Hanna-yes, and Colleen Sailer-yes.

Education and Administration Return to Learn Plan – Mr. Berlinski explained the proposed draft of the Return to Learn Plan. He thanked the committee for their time and effort developing a plan in compliance with the changing requirements of the ISBE, IBPH and CDC and PHS recommendations. This plan is subject to approval of the Bureau-Marshall-Putnam County Health Department. Parents will have a choice of two learning options: fully remote or blended approach with alternating days in- person and remote learning, with five instructional hours daily. Face coverings, temperature screenings, and additional requirements are being developed for the social, emotional and educational health and safety of the students.

Building and Grounds Summer Work Update - Mr. Haring stated the maintenance crew has done a great job completing summer cleaning and maintenance projects. Work on the four-step renovation process for the tennis courts has begun.

Finance Fees for the 2020-21 School Year – The motion to approve the $120 registration fee and cafeteria prices, as presented was made by John Young, seconded by Gary Hanna, and unanimously approved on a roll call vote.

FY21 Non-Certified Staff Salaries – Al Taylor moved to adopt the FY21 wage increases for non- certified staff as presented. Second by Terry Smallwood. Roll call: Gary Hanna-yes, John Young-yes, Terry Smallwood-yes, Al Taylor-yes, and Colleen Sailer-yes.

Executive Session The motion to adjourn to Executive Session at 6:40 p.m. for semi-annual review of Executive Session Minutes was made by Gary Hanna, seconded by John Young, and unanimously carried on a roll call vote.

Gary Hanna made the motion, seconded by Terry Smallwood, to return to Regular Session at 6:47 p.m. On a roll call vote, motion unanimously approved.

Other Business The motion to release the Executive Session Minutes from the past six months was made by Gary Hanna, seconded by John Young. Roll call: Al Taylor-yes, Terry Smallwood-yes, John Young- yes, Gary Hanna-yes, and Colleen Sailer-yes. Motion passed.

Adjourn The motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 p.m. was made by Gary Hanna, seconded by Terry Smallwood, and passed on a roll call vote unanimously approved.
