Streator Fire District responded to 261 calls in 2018 - 2.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Streator included 39 fires - 28 structure fires, six vehicle fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $252,300 in fire loss - or about $6,469 per fire.

The department also received 222 false calls, including one malicious call and 221 other false calls.

The Streator Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 16 active employees and 20 retired or inactive employees, was $373,839 in debt as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,751 for every fire in 2017.
