Sheridan Fire Protection District responded to 27 calls in 2018 - 92.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sheridan included 18 fires - 12 structure fires, two vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $4,200 in fire loss - or about $233 per fire.

The department also received nine false calls.

The Sheridan Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $819,480 in 2018.
