Grand Ridge Fire District responded to 49 calls in 2018 - 8.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Grand Ridge included 40 fires - 12 structure fires, one vehicle fire and 27 other fires.

In all, the department saw $40,000 in fire loss - or about $1,000 per fire.

The department also received nine false calls.
