City of Oglesby issued the following announcement on Oct. 9.
Power has been restored, all circuits are up again. I would like to thank the city of Peru’s Electrical Department for assisting the city in the restoration efforts. Unforeseen outages are always inconvenient, what is really unfortunate is when during the restoration process that other problems come up, especially after an initial ETA is given. After the pole was hit, a process to restore power with the least impact to residents and businesses was derived. However, after the plan was put in place it was discovered an isolation switch wasn’t working as designed. Then after a new plan was put in place it was further discovered that the switch itself couldn’t be isolated further. We might not be able to plan for when an accident will occur that will affect the city, but we can plan that these events WILL happen, and we can take efforts to have less impacts to our residents and businesses in the future when those unforeseen circumstances occur. (Such as a car snapping a pole in a head-on collision 200 yards from the main substation, that has dual voltage lines on it.) –Commissioner Curran
