City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.
Commissioner Marla Rodriguez has announced the City of Ottawa will be offering people an easy opportunity to make unwrapped toy and book donations to Ottawa’s Sunrise Rotary Club annual toy and book drive.
In lieu of the Festival of Lights parade this year, a special drive-by drop-off will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Jackson Street side of Washington Square. Rotary volunteers will be on hand to accept the donations and place them on their traditional float trailer.
During that time, Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be on Jackson Street. Due to social distancing restrictions, they will not be able to have individual visits with the children this year, but will cheerfully accept any letters given to them.
Those not able to attend this special drop-off site opportunity may leave their donations at any Bill Walsh Dealership or Edward Jones office at any time.
