Seneca Township High School District 160 Building, Grounds, and Transportation Committee Met Dec. 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

A meeting of the Building, Grounds, and Transportation Committee was held on December 2, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order with the following members present: Ron Frye, Joe Johnson, and Cory Yandell. Also present were Jim Carlson, Barry Buchanan, and Dan Stecken.

B. Building, Grounds & Transportation

1. Activity Bus Specs

Dr. Carlson told the committee the approximate costs for a new Activity Bus is $61,000. The engine in the present year's model is a 6.6 L, whereas last year's model was 6 L. The rest of the specifications are essentially the same. With COVID, the activity buses are not being used as often as in past years; however, the trade value of the district's current bus will only be reduced as time goes on. The administration will determine whether to let bids in January.

2. Building Services Update

Mr. Buchanan reviewed the various projects with which the maintenance team has been involved.

3. BGT Budget Update

Mr. Stecken provided the committee with a near mid-year O&M Fund budget update. The overall expenses in the Fund are on target.

4. Parapet Wall

Dr. Carlson reviewed the engagement letter from Wold Architects and Engineers to shepherd the parapet wall repair project in e9-rly FY 22. The committee agreed to move forward with the proposal.

5. Auditorium Handrails

Dr. Carlson informed the committee that he will be working with John Maurer from Wold to move forward on adding handrails to the auditorium.

C. Other

Dr. Carlson reviewed a letter explaining the district's levy and the need for a Truth-in Taxation hearing. The letter will be po ted on the website and on social media.
