Princeton High School District #500 Board of Education met Nov. 23.

Colleen Sailer, President, called the Regular Meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. She welcomed guests and the media. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance. There was no Public Comment.
Consent Agenda
The Consent Agenda contained Minutes from the October 28, 2020 Regular Monthly Meeting, Monthly Bills, Treasurer’s Reports, Treasurer’s Bonds and Phelps and Zearing Farm Reports. Terry Smallwood moved to approve the Consent Agenda items as presented, seconded by John Young. The motion carried on a roll call vote: Al Taylor-yes, Gary Hanna-yes, John Young-yes, Terry Smallwood-yes, and Colleen Sailer-yes.
Education and Administration
Assistant Principal’s Report – Mr. Ohlson reported there were eleven nominations for students- of-the-month, and announced the following six recipients: Kaiden Wahlgren, Adam Vigars, Alex Pinter, Gabriel Glass, Kailey Patterson and Josh Roth.
Mr. Ohlson’s report was reviewed. The attendance rate from October 22nd through November 19th was 91%; the same as a year ago. There have been 2 disciplinary write-ups, with 103 in 2019-2020.
Activities Director Report - Cross Country results were included. All Winter Sports and Activities have been paused due to the IDPH guidelines.
Principal’s Report – Mr. Berlinski summarized the temporary transition to remote learning that began November 10th, tentatively scheduled through November 30th. The first semester will conclude on December 18th. Two new course proposals, Foods III and Fashion History and Advanced Textiles, were reviewed.
Personnel – The motion to approve the resignation of Sharon Wright, Secretary, as of December 31, 2020 was made by Gary Hanna, and seconded by John Young. Roll call: Terry Smallwood- yes, Al Taylor-yes, John Young-yes, Gary Hanna-yes, and Colleen Sailer-yes. Motion passed.
Approval of New Course Proposals – Gary Hanna made the motion to approve new course proposals, Foods III and Fashion History and Advanced Textiles, as presented. Second by Terry Smallwood; motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote.
Finance
Tentative 2020 Tax Levy - The motion to approve the Tentative 2020 Tax Levy as presented was made by Al Taylor, seconded by John Young. Roll call: Terry Smallwood-yes, Gary Hanna-yes, John Young-yes, Al Taylor-yes, and Colleen Sailer-yes; motion approved.
Executive Session
There was no Executive Session.
Other Business
No other business was discussed.
Adjourn
The motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:10 p.m. was made by Terry Smallwood, seconded by Al Taylor, and passed with a unanimous roll call.
