Six counties in Illinois recently reported that they currently don't have a single confirmed coronavirus case.
These counties are rural areas, and the lack of cases is leading residents to question if stay-at-home orders can be lifted sooner for them, Chicago WGN9 News reported.
The small rural city of Hennepin in Putnam County is one of the jurisdictions that have zero cases and is home to Putnam's government offices.
Despite the news, Hennepin Mayor Kevin Coleman urged residents to remain vigilant. He said that there might be cases that haven't been reported since there isn't much testing.
"The testing is one thing. There is not much of it going on here," Coleman told WGN9 News. "So how do we know if it's actually here or not."
During his regular coronavirus update, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said areas that are not very crowded and considered safe, that he agreed with the idea of opening businesses that don't force people to congregate in large groups of more than 10.
