State Rep. David Friess (R-Red Bud) has just joined the Illinois General Assembly as the newest legislator and he is set to attend his first committee hearings this week.

The people he represents are confident about his capabilities, seeing that he has worked as a lawyer and is a veteran.

Friess is married to an educator, which Illinois residents think is an advantage for the young state representative as he can easily work with legislators coming from various backgrounds.

Friess has reassured the people he represents that he has what it takes to become effective in his latest position. Friess said, “I believe my life experiences have prepared me well for this moment. Committees are where the real work takes place, and I am ready to fight for the people of my district.”

According to his website, repfriess.com, Friess will be handling the following committees: Appropriations – Public Safety, Counties and Townships, Elementary and Secondary Education-Curriculum Policies, Judiciary-Criminal and Public Utilities committees.

Friess also said that due to the pandemic, all of his committee hearings will be done virtually. But he is confident that even in an unorthodox setting all of their tasks will be accomplished on time.
