A Regular Meeting Of The Oglesby City Council Was Held At City Hall. The Meeting Was Called To Order At 7:00 P.M.

Present: Commissioners Argubright, Cullinan, Curran, Lijewski, Mayor Rivara, Attorney Andreoni And City Clerk Eitutis

A MOTION WAS MADE BY LIJEWSKI, SECONDED BY CURRAN to approve the regular meeting minutes from February 1, 2021. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY CURRAN, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT to approve bills as presented for payment. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA. Commissioner Curran asks that invoice #2021044 be exempt from being paid.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY CURRAN, SECONDED BY LIJEWSKI to approve 1152-021621 an Ordinance renaming Roebuck Street in the City of Oglesby to Sunset Street. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA. Commissioner Curran explains that the total costs involved in renaming the street were $280.75. Attorney Andreoni reminds that certified copies must be sent to the Post Office and County Clerk’s office.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY LIJEWSKI, SECONDED BY CURRAN to approve 1153-021621 an Ordinance authorizing the City of Oglesby to enter int a secondary employer indemnity and conditions agreement with the City of Peru and the City of Lasalle. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY LIJEWSKI, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT to approve the purchase of a new vehicle for the Oglesby Police department using impound funds. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA. Commissioner Lijewski gives details in regards to all fleet vehicles within the Police Department and the need to purchase another one as the Department is currently down to two vehicles.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY ARGUBRIGHT, SECONDED BY CURRAN to approve a raffle license application for the Dickinson House foundation. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA

A MOTION WAS MADE BY CURRAN, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT to authorize seeking of bids for roof repair to the Dickinson House. AYES: ARGUBRIGHT, CULLINAN, CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA. Mayor Rivara states the part of the roof over the bowling alley is leaking and needs to be repaired. Commissioner Curran states that the downspouts do not drain away from the building, they currently drain into the sanitary sewer and that needs to be corrected. The Council recommends getting more than one bid.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY CURRAN, SECONDED BY LIJEWSKI to approve the Mayor’s recommendation and Council approval to obtain Patrick Barry as the Oglesby City attorney and the law firm of Aplington, Kaufman, McClintock, Steele and Barry. AYES: CURRAN, LIJEWSKI, RIVARA. NAYS: CULLINAN ABSTAIN: ARGUBRIGHT

Lijewski: none

Curran: there was a water main break near Holy Family school which was repaired quickly. The residents who have not complied with getting their inspections done will be getting served with a summons. A survey will be coming out from Surf Broadband Solutions in regards to the City becoming a fiber city. A quote has not been obtained as of yet Commissioner Curran states.

Cullinan: none

Mayor’s report: reminds that garbage pickup is delayed by one day. The demolition for the Schmidt Building on Walnut Street must be done before March 31, 2021 or after November 15, 2021. With the expansion of GTI an additional 250 jobs will be created in the future. The City continues to work with Ameren to get the second feed into the Mallick substation. The Mayor thanks Attorney Andreoni for the job he has done as the city attorney and wishes him well.
